    Private & Exclusive

Introduction

Visitors to Tanzania wishing to cohabitate with the extraordinary wildlife, bird life and nature to be found within its borders in the absolute privacy of their own surroundings need look no further than our Intimate Camps. With spacious and comfortable accommodation set in private campsites booked exclusively for you, we are pleased to be able to provide the ultimate safari experience.

Your Camp

Intimate Camps are “short stay” luxury mobile camps which are only ever set up for your own private and exclusive use. They are never shared with anyone else and this enables us, with each and every booking, to concentrate all of our efforts on your specific needs and wants.

Your camp is staffed by private chefs, private butlers and private tent attendants, all of whom are on call to look after you and your group for the duration of your stay with us. Camp sizes may vary between one accommodation tent for two people up to a maximum of fifteen accommodation tents for a maximum of thirty people as required.

Because our camps are for private use, we are able to tailor the services we provide to your specific desires. Hence, the menus served during the course of your stay (please click here for menu selections), the drinks available from our well-stocked bar (please click here for beverage selections), the types of beds made available in your tents and even the distances between one tent and another are all discussed and agreed with you during the planning stage of your camp.

All Intimate Camps have a fully equipped kitchen with a gas fridge, freezer, oven and stove.

Accommodation

Each sleeping tent measures 30 square metres (300 square feet) and consists of a verandah, bedroom area, dressing area and a separate shower and flush toilet.

As an added convenience, each tent is supplied with electricity for lighting as well as for charging mobile phones, cameras, laptop computers and any other electronic devices you may carry with you. This electricity is generated via a system of individual solar panels, chargers, batteries and inverters which are connected to each tent.

Intimate Camps can also be booked with up to two family tents. Family tents consist of a verandah, lounge, two bedrooms (each of which can be set up as singles, doubles or triples), two dressing areas and separate showers and toilets.

Day Tents

Day tents are designed to provide comfortable dining and recreation for those moments when you are not out and about exploring the bush and participating in the activities which are available to you.

The lounge area is set up with coffee table books, board games and wireless internet connectivity (subject to the availability of telephone networks) so as to ensure that your every need is catered for. Day tents also have a well-stocked bar which serves a selection of spirits, wines, beers and minerals, the cost of which is included in your accommodation rates.

Evenings are spent around the all-important campfire enjoying drinks and bitings whilst exchanging stories about the day’s events and making plans for the day ahead.

Activities

Activities available for you to enjoy during the course of your stay will be dictated by the location you chose for your camp. However, these can range from game drives to view the great wildebeest migration as well as other wildlife and bird-life; game walks, nature walks and walks with ancient African tribes such as the Maasai and the Hadzabe people; off-road game driving as well as night game drives; hiking on the slopes of Mounts Kilimanjaro, Meru or Ol Doinyo Lengai and early morning game viewing from the skies in a hot air balloon.

Locations

The actual location of your camp is decided by you – as opposed to by us – and this can be anywhere on the Tanzania Northern Safari circuit to include all of the national parks as well as such out of the way places as the Lakes of Natron and Eyasi and West Kilimanjaro.

Statistically, the most popular location for a camp is normally dictated by the movement of the great wildebeest migration and here again, Intimate Camps provides an advantage over most other types of camp in that we are able to make last minute changes to where your camp is set up for you so as to ensure that it is located where the migrating animals actually are as opposed to where they are historically supposed to be.

The Environment

It is important to remember that Intimate Camps are always set up on pristine sites, normally belonging to the Tanzania National Parks or the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

The camps themselves are set up for relatively short periods of time – normally no more than a week – and when they are taken away at the end of your stay, they leave behind the same pristine conditions which they found upon arrival. We literally take everything away with us including rubbish which is returned to Arusha for proper disposal. Intimate Camps are therefore very kind indeed to the environments in which they operate. A Special Place to Stay

Private, luxury mobile camping in its purest form is widely recognised as providing the most authentic of safari experiences. Unlike staying in hotels and lodges, it enables you to blend in with and become part of the environment they wish to experience. And once you depart there is little, if any evidence of your visit aside from your cherished memories and the pictures which you take away with you to enjoy for many years to come. The management and staff of Intimate Places therefore look forward to welcoming you on a safari of a lifetime.
